The biggest question many have before scheduling a session is "Why does it cost so much? "
-Consider the investment made on the part of the photographer in equipment-camera body, lenses, data cards, batteries, flashes, stands, umbrellas, props, bags, computers, digital catalogs storage and website costs, and so much more.
-Consider the photographer's time. This is much more than just the time I spend with the client for the session, but also time they spend communicating with the client prior, sometimes scouting locations, equipment prep time, drive time, and then, the biggest part, deciding on which photos are the best (culling) and of course, editing.
-Consider the length of the event, number of locations (weddings) and distance from my home. The longer the event, the more photos will be expected to capture every aspect and tell the story, therefore the editing time will grow as well.
For example, on average I spend about 3 hours editing a family, graduate, or engagement session. Newborn/in home sessions are longer, and then larger groups, or longer events even longer. An average wedding is 6 hours of physical time spent at the event, which will end up being upwards of 18+ hours of editing.
The biggest regret I hear is, "I wish I would just committed to the investment and booked a session sooner. I love our photos."

What should I do to prepare for our session?
After booking, we can do virtual, phone, or in person discussion of your ideas for your session. I can help/suggest clothing choices if needed. We will definitely discuss location of shoot, and what type of feel you are going for. If you have an idea, we can make it happen. I am up for anything!
The goal is to make sure we are both on the same page prior to your shoot.
When will we get our photos?
Most sessions will receive an online gallery link with all of the edited images between 2- 4 weeks after your session. Weddings and larger events will be delivered between 6-8 weeks from the date of the event. Due to the length of the event, number of shots taken, and time needed to cull and edit the gallery.
These dates can vary, but thespecific delivery date will always be shared with you in your contract.
How many pictures will we receive?
Each session is unique. I prefer to not set a limit on length of session or number of images, and instead to make the priority that we are both mutually satisfied with the results. At the time of your booking, you will be given an estimate after talking about your expectations and vision for the session.
Most family and engagement sessions will be between 45-60 mins and yield approximately 30-40 images.
Wedding albums are usually between 200-500 images depending on the length of time agreed upon during inquiry.
Will you tell us what to do? I (my partner, my child) get awkward for these types of things.
I am happy to provide prompts and "pose you" as needed. I prefer more documentary style photography, capturing your true emotions and energy as they pass by my camera. Usually we will start out with some gentle posing and as everyone relaxes and I get to know your personalities, we will work towards more loosely posed images and the flow will naturally go along in the perfect direction! It helps to share some of you and your family's unique personality quirks prior to us meeting up, so I can help them loosen up as we go through the session.
What if I just want a "mini session" or single location shots versus a full session? The investment is a little much for me.
